When things aren’t working for your child like they are for most it’s overwhelming.
Part of you wants to act now and part of you wants to pull up the covers and stay put. But most of all you’d do anything to fix the problem.
Small tasks that feel like insurmountable challenges.
Chatting with other parents is the worst. As they list what their child is up to your mind pores over a different list, one of all the things your child is not doing well.
This is not what you had imagined.
Of course you want the very best for your child.
But fear and worry weigh on already challenging days.
Then you see their face and it lights up your entire world.
There’s gotta be a better way to help.
A way that connects with your child and helps them reach their next step.
The Anat Baniel Method for Children does just that. By breaking down the insurmountable into the possible, we allow your child and you to experience the elation of improvement. We meet your child right where they are and spark their brain to learn and grow.
Most people look for big developmental milestones.
They clap when their child rolls over, crawls, sits, or stands on their own. But they miss the infinite smaller building blocks of skills.
Like the refinement from accidentally hitting their toy to intentionally reaching for it! This seemingly small step represents profound growth from a brain perspective.
There’s a whole world of improvement between each developmental milestone.
In typically developing children it happen so quickly that it’s easy to miss.
But when there is a delay, that process is slowed and has the potential to become a huge barrier.
That’s why it’s imperative to see with new eyes, to develop the vision to see those smaller steps. The more aware you become of the building blocks, the faster they grow into milestones.
In a session with me, we’ll begin where your child is most comfortable, perhaps sitting in your lap. As I gently support their leg and begin to bend it I notice how it moves, with rigidity, with looseness or with ease. This simple movement is filled with information about how their leg relates to the back and pelvis.
There’s a relief that comes with knowing you’re moving in the right direction.
Being a parent of a child with special needs should be an Olympic sport. Navigating the patience to slow down with the assertiveness to act even when you just don’t have the stamina is constant overwhelm. But learning to notice small changes buoys you with relief as you watch them build into big steps.
Your child making sense of the world begins with them making sense within their own body. And the sooner we begin the steeper the trajectory of change.
As a Children’s Mastery trained practitioner since 2012, I bring a knowledge of movement and skill formation to create a rich environment for learning. Each session wakes up the brain to form new connections. Your child will fill in the foundations of their development and you will learn to see through the lens of the brain.
